Connect Autoview to ChatGPT in 2 minutes
Not yet tested on this client. The steps follow ChatGPT's own documentation (linked below). We have not run them ourselves yet. If something differs, the agent guide has the plain HTTP details.
The Autoview MCP server lets ChatGPT try orders in a free sandbox with no account and no exchange key. With a token from your Autoview account, it can also set up and send live orders.
What you need
- A ChatGPT account that can add a custom MCP server. Whether yours can depends on your plan and, on a work account, on your workspace admin. We could not confirm the plan list from OpenAI's help pages, so check there if the option is missing.
- For live orders only: an Autoview account (sign up free) and an agent token from /account/tokens/. The sandbox needs neither.
Add the server
- In ChatGPT on the web, open chatgpt.com/plugins and click the plus button.
- Choose Add custom MCP server. Give it a name (
Autoview) and a short description. - Under Connection, paste the URL below.
- For authentication, choose no authentication for the sandbox. Read the warning, confirm, and create it.
MCP server URL:
https://api.autoview.com/mcp/Check that it works
- Start a new chat and turn the Autoview server on for it.
- Ask: Use Autoview to run a sandbox market buy of 0.001 BTCUSD on Kraken and tell me the fill price. ChatGPT should call
sandbox_runand report a simulated fill withreal_order_placed: false.
The sandbox never places a real order and needs no token. It fills each order at one snapshot price, so live results will differ. The agent guide explains the fill rule and every error code.
Good to know
- ChatGPT cannot send a fixed API key, so the
Authorization: Bearer av_mcp_...header used by other clients does not work here. For live orders it has to sign in through OAuth, which the Autoview server supports. We have not tested that sign-in from ChatGPT yet. - OpenAI's menus for this have changed more than once. If the steps do not match what you see, follow OpenAI's current guide (linked below) with the same URL.
Going live
Live orders need an Autoview account, your exchange keys, and an agent token with "Allow live orders" on. The agent guide covers the rules for live orders. Create the token at /account/tokens/. Each live exchange is its own subscription; testnet and demo venues are free. See pricing.
