How to create a Binance API key for Autoview
Autoview's Binance form asks for two things: an API Key and a Secret. Both come from Binance, not from Autoview. This page shows where to get them, which boxes to tick, and where each one goes.
Binance steps below were checked against Binance's own help center on October 6, 2026. Binance changes its pages from time to time. If a button has moved, Binance's current page wins.
1. Start on testnet
Try it with fake money first. Binance runs a spot testnet with its own login and its own keys. Your Binance.com key won't work there, and a testnet key won't work on Binance.com.
- Go to testnet.binance.vision and sign in with GitHub. No Binance.com account is needed.
- Click Generate HMAC_SHA256 Key. Copy the API Key and the Secret Key it shows.
- In Autoview, connect it on the Binance Testnet setup page, not the Binance one.
The testnet account comes with fake balances. The Binance Testnet guide covers it in full. Futures has a separate testnet at testnet.binancefuture.com with its own keys; see the Binance Futures Testnet guide.
2. Create the key on Binance
Before Binance lets you make a key, it asks for three things on your account: two-factor authentication, identity verification, and a deposit of any amount in your Spot Wallet.
- Sign in at binance.com. Click your profile icon, then Account, then API Management.
- Click Create API.
- Choose System-generated. This type gives you an API Key and a Secret Key. Autoview needs both. Skip Self-generated (Ed25519 or RSA), since it has no Secret.
- Give the key a label you'll recognize, such as "Autoview", and confirm with your 2FA.
- Copy the API Key and the Secret Key right away and keep them somewhere safe. If you lose the Secret, delete the key and make a new one.
Then set the IP restriction and permissions as shown in the next two sections. On Binance the order matters: the restriction comes first.
3. Which permissions to tick
Autoview places and cancels orders and reads your balances and positions. That's all the key has to do.
| Binance permission | Setting |
|---|---|
| Enable Reading | On |
| Enable Spot & Margin Trading | On, for the Binance (spot) connection |
| Enable Futures | On only if you'll connect Binance Futures or COIN-M delivery |
| Enable Withdrawals | Off. Always. |
Autoview never calls a Binance withdrawal endpoint. A key that can't withdraw can't drain your account if it ever leaks.
Two things to know about futures:
- Binance says a key made before you opened your Futures account can't get Futures permission. Open Futures first, then create the key.
- Binance spot, Binance Futures and COIN-M delivery are separate connections in Autoview. This page's form is the spot one. The Getting Started with Binance guide lists all four.
If you use Autoview's margin borrow, repay or wallet-transfer commands, Binance may list those under extra toggles on the key's edit page. Check Binance's current page for what each toggle covers.
4. IP restriction
This is where most people get stuck. Binance's help center says a system-generated key with unrestricted IP access gets reading only. To turn on trading, you first restrict the key to specific IPv4 addresses.
On Autoview's web platform, orders leave from the Zone you pick on the connect form. Add the address for that Zone:
- US - New York:
134.199.240.104 - US - San Francisco:
209.38.6.104 - AU - Sydney:
170.64.242.71
Not sure which Zone your account uses? Ask Autoview support at support@autoview.com before you save the key. If the Zone and the address don't match, Binance rejects the order. The Are my API keys safe? guide has more on these addresses.
The testnet sites have their own rules. Follow what the testnet page shows you.
5. Which value goes in which field
Autoview's Binance and Binance Testnet pages use the same two fields, in this order:
| Autoview field | Paste this from Binance |
|---|---|
| *API Key | API Key |
| *Secret | Secret Key |
Then pick the *Zone that matches the IP you added, and click Add API Keys. Watch for leading or trailing spaces when you paste.
Once it's connected, the Getting Started with Binance guide walks you through a first test order and cancel.
6. Common errors
- I can't tick Enable Spot & Margin Trading. The key has no IP restriction. Add the Zone's IPv4 address first.
- Enable Futures is greyed out. The key may predate your Futures account, or Portfolio Margin is on. Binance says either one blocks it. Open Futures, then make a new key.
- -2015 "Invalid API-key, IP, or permissions for action." The key is wrong, the Zone's address isn't on the key, or the permission you need is off. Check all three.
- -2014 "API-key format invalid." Usually a bad paste. Copy the API Key again.
- -1022 "Signature for this request is not valid." Usually a wrong or cut-off Secret, or a self-generated key. Use a system-generated key and paste the Secret again.
- A testnet key fails on the Binance page, or a live key fails on Binance Testnet. They're separate systems. Put each key on its own page.
- Lost the Secret. Delete the key and create a new one.
